The Young Choir
The Youth Choir consists of singers aged from seventeen to twenty-three.
It has a concert season in which it performs both in Navarre and beyond, having sung at events such as the 40th anniversary of the Orfeón Logroñés or the Eighth Choral Festival of the Bidasoa in Irún.
Although the Youth Choir serves as a springboard for singers not yet old enough to join the chief Orfeón Pamplonés Choir, it has a personality all of its own. In addition to singing traditional choral and choral-symphonic works, it frequently performs more youthful pieces and adaptations, venturing into the fields of pop, rock and folk music.
The Youth Choir has performed Moreno Torroba’s Zarzuela Luisa Fernanda in Teatro Gayarre with the Navarre Symphony Orchestra. Alongside Pamplona’s Sinfonietta Académica, with which it has worked on several occasions, it has performed works by Mozart, Beethoven, Buxtehude, Pergolesi, Vivaldi and the Navarrese composer Lorenzo Ondarra.
It has collaborated with the Orfeón Pamplonés in works such as Fauré’s Requiem, Verdi’s Requiem, Beethoven's Missa Solemnis and the performance of Orff’s Carmina Burana which the Orfeón Pamplonés put on with La Fura dels Baus. Some of its members have also performed with the Orfeón and the New York Philharmonic in New York’s Lincoln Center under the baton of Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos and at the BBC Proms in London’s Royal Albert Hall in the year of the Society’s 150th anniversary.
It performed the "Rock & Choir" concert at Pamplona's Zentral Café, sharing the stage and blending styles with the Navarrese rock group El Desván.
