The Choir School
The Orfeón Pamplonés’ Senior Children’s Choir consists of singers aged between eleven and sixteen.
It chiefly works with a repertoire of A cappella works and pieces with piano accompaniment, although it is gradually getting more involved in choral-symphonic projects as well.
It has sung Carl Orff’s cantata Carmina Burana and Mahler’s Third and Eighth Symphonies on several occasions, and has also performed in operas such as Hans Krása’s Brundibár and Puccini’s La Bohème and Tosca. It has worked under maestros like Valéry Gergiev, Oleg Caetani and Miguel Angel Gómez Martínez, and with soloists like Ainhoa Arteta.
It has taken part in cycles such as the San Clemente Religious Polyphony Cycle in Cuenca and competitions like the Ejea de los Caballeros Choral Contest in Zaragoza.
It has sung alongside the Orfeó Catalá’s Cor Infantil and with the Orfeó Valenciá’s Junior Choir (OVI). In recent years, it has performed in the European Parliament in Brussels, in the Navarrese Parliament and at the Príncipe de Viana Culture Award ceremony.
It also participates in the Orfeón Pamplonés’ joint project with the NGO Juan Bonal, Nuestra Voz en el Mundo (Our Voice in the World).
Since winning the “La Antigua” choral competition in Zumárraga, the choir has also taken part in the Grand National Prize for Choral singing in Ejea de los Caballeros.
The Senior Children’s Choir has performed the traditional Christmas Concert in Teatro de la Zarzuela (Madrid) with the Orchestra of the Community of Madrid, conducted by Cristóbal Soler.
